Cailean has more than 15 years experience in strategic leadership roles, bringing a wealth of diverse experience. As a trained and CIMA qualified accountant, Cailean joined tech giant IBM to lead the education sector. Cailean started as a single intrapreneur with $0 revenue to living and working across 16 countries, managing 125 heads with a $136m business in five years.
Following the sale of the division, Cailean consulted and built the apprenticeship assessment unit at leading awarding organisation NCFE, led a human performance psychology project for the CIPD and transformed a failing US college.
As Vice Chair and Director of Commercial for higher education awarding organisation UCAS, Cailean led a data mission, growing out an insight consulting unit and advancing the media marketing agency.
Cailean was Chief Operating Officer at Coursematch, a tech start-up focused on an app to democratise university admissions and support youth aspirations, seeing it through to acquisition by media giant Natives Group.
Following this, Cailean joined educational charity, Speakers for Schools as Chief Customer Officer and led the transformation of the service. From 16 headcount to 145 in 12 months and growing from 4% to 85% market share of UK schools. Cailean made three acquisitions and span out an insight consulting and media agency to bring commercial self-sufficiency to the charity group.
